It started with our normal bedtime routine – as simple as my daughter and I saying “I love you” as we said goodnight. One day, I said, “I love you bigger than Jupiter!” (My background is in astronomy, and, to my delight, she finds as much wonder in the universe as I do.) And she said, “I love you bigger than the Empire State Building!” (We had just been on a little trip to New York City, and her mind was blown at the view from the top.) From there, we just thought up different “big things” each night as we said goodnight, and it became our own little nightly routine. One day, she said, “I love you bigger than everything that’s big!” From that moment, I knew I wanted to create a bedtime adventure story for us.
Now I get to read it with both of my daughters, while turning the pages of a real book – my first!
My hope is that other parents and children read this book and are inspired to think of other big things that are never quite as big as how much they love each other.
